Please Join Me For A Tall Glass Of Celtics Kool-Aid Because Things Are About To Get Fun

(How I am feeling right now)

I don’t even know where to start. As I type this I am still shaking. The Garden was absolutely electric. Brad Stevens might as well be Pres’s friend Bill (Belichick). Marcus Smart is my hero. Jae Crowder is Kawhi Leonard 2.0 only better. I only sorta hate Evan Turner. I can taste Lebron’s tears. Ok…that felt great. Now let’s take a look at what we learned…

I think a good place to start after a game like last night’s is with our fearless leader Brad Stevens. Make no mistake, he won this game for the Celtics. Never too high, never too low, he put on an absolute CLINIC. It is no secret that Brad excels in creating points after timeouts, and we saw his genius on full display. First, the Smart dunk to end the half. This was the exact same play the Celts would run in Toronto to win the game just 10 day ago. Let’s have a look

We’ll get to more Marcus in a minute. After electing to NOT use their foul to give in the closing seconds and giving up a layup to Kyle Lowry, it was on Brad to save the day yet again. Naturally he delivered.

(love the reactions from Lowry and Hansborough, instant heartbreak)

Aside from the play calling, the most impressive thing about Brad Stevens is how he has gotten this group to believe in his system, play HARD and even in a meaningless game for both sides actually give a damn. This is not the same team we saw earlier in the year. The 16-30 team. Everything about them is different, especially their energy. Down at half the Celts easily could have called it a night but instead won the 3rd quarter 27-17. Why do you think that was? I can truly say with full confidence that as much as Lebron gives the Cavs an advantage as a player, that is how great the difference is between Stevens and Blatt. And I mean that as no disrespect as a fellow Chosen One. Stevens is a God. Period.

The biggest source of energy for the Celts comes from the one and only Marcus fucking Smart. He is just an animal. Marcus might have had the loudest 9 points in NBA history. You saw the dunk in the Vine above, that would just be the beginning.

The “alley-oop”. We’ve all done it. Well the part where you shoot and completely airball, not the dunking part. Left your hands as a shot until it was a pass type play.  Just great instincts to crash the offensive glass since Toronto had no interest in blocking out.

I can just see it now. Smart is going to hit a game winning three against the Cavs. He just doesn’t care. No hesitation whatsoever and he fucking nails it. Onions like you read about. Remember this when it happens.

So here we are. We made it through the gauntlet (hardest remaining schedule) with a pretty desirable outcome. I’ll break down our matchup with Lebron later. At the moment I am hammered on Celtics Kool-Aid and it is fantastic. The way this team has been playing since the Break leaves me feeling more confident than ever. All of you who will say this game didn’t matter either, I’m not interested. Celts finish the season tomorrow night in Milwaukee, but I’ve already moved on to Lebron.

Obviously no one wants the Cavs to win the title, and once again Boston has been called to save the day. No big deal. We thrive on being the last straw. What a finish, what a game, what a season.

Go Celtics.
